Zinc PCA
Product Introduction
Zinc PCA is a white to pale yellow crystalline powder, the zinc salt of L-Pyrrolidone 5-carboxylic acid (PCA) which is a natural moisturizing factor (NMF) of amino acid type. Easily soluble in water, it can be used in water-based applications providing exceptional dermal hydration and boosting the moisture-binding ability of the skin.
Zinc has a critical role in the metabolism of one of the most important proteins in the epidermis called Filaggrin (filament aggregating protein). Metabolites of Filaggrin are NMFs (natural moisturizing factors) attracting water molecules and improving skin hydration.
Zinc PCA can suppress sebum secretion by inhibiting 5-α reductase in hyper-seborrhea, suppress body odor by forming zinc salts with short-chain fatty acids, lessen wrinkles by inhibiting AP-1 and inhibit bacterial growth including acne-related Propionibacterium acnes.
In addition, Zinc PCA has a synergistic effect with Piroctone Olamine, a useful duo in treating seborrheic dermatitis. It is a common ingredient in antidandruff shampoo, oil control cosmetics, and anti-acne cosmetics.

Zinc PCA is basically derived from Zinc and is used for conditioning the skin. It is becoming one of the most loved ingredients in the world of skin care because of its numerous benefits. Apart from deeply moisturizing and hydrating the skin, it also fights acne-causing germs and leaves the skin supple and smooth. Moreover, it also fights the signs of aging. The full form of Zinc PCA is Zinc Pyrrolidone Carboxylic Acid. It is a compound for aiding the tightening of the skin.
Zinc PCA is known to be mild. It is used for its sebum-regulating (even anti-dandruff) properties. It is also indicated for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties to fight acne and various skin problems. Zinc PCA is added to a range of products in the cosmetic industry in order to fight acne breakouts and make the skin clear and smooth looking. It can mainly be found in moisturizers, serums, and masks, but is also present in cosmetic and hair care products to impart its benefits.

Zinc PCA, otherwise known as zinc salt, is the salt of the pyrrolidone carboxylic acid (PCA). PCA is a natural molecule found in the outermost layer of skin. Most of the PCA in skin-care formulations is synthetically made, but it can also be derived from oils and certain plants.
Zinc PCA has been found to help treat pimples and reduce sebum secretion and redness, in addition to moisturizing the skin. Similar to hyaluronic acid, it is a humectant that is used as a hydrating ingredient. This means that Zinc PCA can help hold the water in your skin rather than letting it evaporate. Zinc PCA is also a preventative ingredient for skin aging, as it aids in the healing process and counteracts the degradation of collagen which gives skin its plumpness and elasticity.
