Product Introduction

4'-Hydroxyacetophenone is a type of natural substance that can be found in Ficus erecta var. It is commonly used in cosmetics because it has antioxidant properties, which means it helps to protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals. It comes in the form of a white or off-white powder or crystals, and has a mild, sweet scent similar to hawthorn, balsam, or mimosa. Another name for 4'-Hydroxyacetophenone is 1-(4-hydroxyphenyl) ethanone.

4’-Hydroxyacetophenone has antioxidant characteristics. Antioxidants neutralize harmful molecules caused by pollution, UV radiation, and stress that can damage skin cells. Antioxidants can help reduce inflammation and redness. Antioxidant ingredients are also used in skincare products to keep skin healthy and youthful, extend the shelf life of food and beverages, and prevent the breakdown of active ingredients in medications. 4'-Hydroxyacetophenone is used for its antioxidant characteristics in personal care products.

4-hydroxyacetophenone new preservative

Hydroxyacetophenone is a synthetic antioxidant and phenolic compound commonly used in cosmetics. It is naturally found in the Norwegian spruce (Picea abies) needles at low concentrations of 0.4-1.1%, dry weight. It can also be extracted from Cloudberries. Aside from its function as an antioxidant, it is reported to be a preservative (antimicrobial), skin-conditioning agent, as well as flavouring agent in non-cosmetic formulations. Hydroxyacetophenone is a common ingredient in cosmetics for its antioxidant and soothing properties. It alleviates pain and irritation on the skin by inhibiting the COX-2 enzyme, which is responsible for the synthesis of prostaglandins during inflammation.

As an antioxidant, Hydroxyacetophenone works by neutralizing free radicals. Free radicals are unstable molecules that can cause harm to the skin when they interact with our cells, leading to a process known as oxidative stress. This stress can result in visible signs of aging like wrinkles and fine lines, and even contribute to certain skin diseases. Hydroxyacetophenone counteracts these effects by donating an electron to the free radicals, stabilizing them and preventing them from causing harm. This process helps protect the skin from the damaging effects of environmental stressors such as pollution and UV radiation.

Hydroxyacetophenone shows dose-dependent antioxidant ability and works synergistically with other antioxidants to enhance anti-oxidative capacity. The anti-inflammatory activity of Hydroxyacetophenone underlies some of the key mechanisms behind its function as a skin-conditioning agent and anti-irritant.

Chlorphenesin is active against harmful bacteria, fungi, and yeasts. It is also considered a multivalent preservative, which carries a significance in terms of being used in any formulation since it can stabilize other chemical groups in the same formulation. Chlorphenesin can cleanse the skin as well as deodorize skin by eliminating odor-causing bacteria. It stabilizes the preparation with the antimicrobial point of view plus it also has weak emulsifier properties. Chlorphenesin can be called as a multipurpose ingredient of any formulation since when it is used in a product apart from serving the main purpose of the product, it also protects skin from other harmful bacteria, fungi or yeasts and at the same time stabilizes the main product as well.
