Polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN) is a chemical made up of many deoxyribonucleotides. Deoxyribonucleotides are the building blocks of DNA, the genetic material of all living organisms. The polynucleotides present in this ingredient are biocompatible with human skin, imparting visible repair, surface regeneration and soothing properties.
PDRN has dual antioxidant properties: it helps thwart oxidative damage from free radicals and, like superstar antioxidant glutathione, can increase skin’s supply of its own antioxidants, thus revving up its external defenses. It’s also been shown to help repair deeper damage to skin resulting from UV exposure.
Polydeoxyribonucleotide helps to fade hyperpigmentation when combined with vitamin C and niacinamide and delivered to skin via microneedling. Results were compared with using PDRN alone as well as gold standard ingredient hydroquinone, and the PDRN + vitamin C and niacinamide blend was on par with hydroquinone.

PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide) is a mixture of deoxyribonucleotides derived from Salmon, Trout or Chum Salmon sperm DNA through strict purification processes, which has high safety and stability. PDRN can activate the adenosine A2A receptors and also generate nucleotides that help the DNA synthesis, so that it has the functions of tissue repairing, wound healing and anti-aging. Sodium DNA is a signal peptide that mimics extracellular nucleotides. It is composed of DNA fragments from salmon sperm cells. The chemical structure consists of short, low molecular weight DNA chains, ranging from 50 to 1500 kiloDaltons in size. These DNA strands are polymers made up of linked deoxyribonucleotides, which are the building blocks of DNA. The deoxyribonucleotides contain a sugar, phosphate group, and purine or pyrimidine base.
The linear DNA chains twist together into the classic double helix shape. PDRN likely gets broken down by enzymes in the skin into individual nucleotides and nucleosides to provide benefits.
